Ricoh Group announces its Technological Ethics Charter regarding digital services

Tokyo, October 5th, 2023 – Ricoh has published the “Ricoh Group Technology Ethics Charter”, which came into effect on September 25, 2023. This letter aims to mitigate potential ethical risks inherent in the social implementation and operations (research, development, sales) of Ricoh digital services. The charter is made up of three principles of technological ethics and seven beliefs.
As a digital services company, Ricoh recognizes the risks associated with developing and using these services. These include the risk of human rights violations due to the unintentional fostering of discrimination, harm, and inequality, as well as malicious actions from external sources targeting AI-driven systems, which can have a significant impact on society. To mitigate them, Ricoh created a specialized department this year, the Ricoh Family Group Ethics Office, in addition to drafting the Charter.

To achieve its corporate mission and vision of “Achievement through work”, Ricoh is committed to contributing to the realization of a resilient society through the practice of risk assessment and the alternatives inherent to digital services, including AI, so that we can earn the trust of our customers and shareholders, and drive collaborative activities with confidence.
