History and Context

NUC University is an educational institution with more than 30 years in the local market, accredited by MSCHE, offering technical programs, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, and master's degrees. It has more than 20,000 students and 10,000 graduates. Its vision focuses on offering innovative modalities and educational excellence, positioning itself among the five best universities on the island.

Business Challenge

NUC faced high operational costs in printing, with the need to reduce total spending by 30%. The equipment fleet was oversized (315 units), requiring optimization. There was also a need to improve productivity, centralize processes, and ensure faculty acceptance of a new printing model. In addition, the goal was to offer free printing services to students as a retention and attraction mechanism.

Ricoh Solution

Ricoh completely redesigned NUC University's printing infrastructure with 193 Intelligent Multifunction Printers and 17 Production printers for high volumen printing with 5th color technology to expand customization and finishing capabilities. The solution included analysis and optimization of the 19 campuses, implementation of Streamline NX, comprehensive training for teachers, administrators, and students, and managed services.

Results

Thanks to this project, NUC University achieved a 35% reduction in monthly printing costs and total operational savings of 30%. Its printing infrastructure was optimized with a 34% reduction in units, improving installed capacity by 25%. As if that weren't enough, this modernization of NUC University represented a 5% increase in enrollment associated with the free student printing service.

“If we need services, maintenance, or a replacement, they respond quickly. These were important factors, in addition to market stability, in our decision to consider them as our main supplier,” concludes Dr. Daliana Rivera.
