Case Study: TOLEDANO/PRONACA

Case Study: TOLEDANO/PRONACA

Prepared by Adrian Aguilar, Ricoh Panama

TOLEDANO/PRONACA entrusted Ricoh with the design, supply and implementation of its 14 videoconferencing rooms and the open auditorium, which included cameras, ceiling speakers and digital signage equipment in Plaza del Este, in addition to the digital signage solution for internal corporate communications in 4 remote sites, which allowed a better user experience in the use of the audiovisual rooms, ease of communication with the corporate in the various subsidiaries.

This implementation was carried out through Managed Services for Audiovisual Solutions that included technical support and preventive and corrective maintenance for all their audiovisual rooms to avoid interruptions or mishaps during presentations, this allowed them to focus on their day to day entrusting Ricoh to support their audiovisual solutions.

History and Context

Toledano was founded in the 1950s by Don Isaac Toledano and established itself as one of the leading poultry companies in the country. Over time, it diversified its offer to other meats and sausages, investing in technology and quality standards. It later joined the Melo Group, strengthening its production and distribution capacity. Today it is a recognized brand throughout Panama, with national presence and commitment to sustainability and the community. In 2019 Pronaca (Ecuador) and Corporación Multi Inversiones (Guatemala) consolidated the La Estancia consortium, acquiring a relevant participation in Productos Toledano. Although the Toledano family maintains control and management, La Estancia assumes operational level with greater capital, experience and international best practices.

Business Challenge

Toledano, a brand with more than 70 years of history in Panama, was going through a new stage of growth. With the integration of subsidiaries, new product lines and an increasingly dynamic operation, the need to be aligned as a team became more urgent than ever.

Their conference rooms were the meeting point for important decisions, strategic plans and connections with different regions.

Technology did not keep up with the speed of their ideas. Meetings were interrupted by technical details. Presentations did not flow as they should. Internal and external communication did not reach everyone equally, especially in remote locations. And most critically, the teams' time and energy was going into solving problems, instead of focusing on what was really driving the business.

That's when Toledano understood that he needed more than beautiful spaces or modern screens. He needed a real transformation in how they connected, listened, and collaborated regardless of location.

RICOH Solution

It was at that inflection point that Toledano decided to take the plunge. And it did so by relying on a strategic partner that understood both its vision and its challenges: Ricoh.

Ricoh undertook the design, supply and implementation of its 14 conference rooms and open auditorium in Plaza del Este, Panama. It was a comprehensive solution that included smart cameras, ceiling speakers, and digital signage systems, designed to provide a seamless, uninterrupted experience.

But the transformation was not limited to a single venue. Toledano also integrated the digital signage solution at 4 remote sites, allowing internal communication to reach all staff clearly and consistently, no matter where they were.

All of this was backed up by Ricoh AV Managed Services: technical support, preventive and corrective maintenance ensuring that each room is always ready to go. No hiccups. No distractions. With total confidence.

Results

Thanks to this solution, Toledano achieved:

  • A much smoother experience for its users during meetings and presentations.
  • Better connection and coordination with corporate and its different subsidiaries.
  • More effective internal communications at all points of operation.
  • A team focused 100% on their business, knowing that Ricoh took care of the rest.

Today, Toledano not only has better spaces. It has a strengthened collaborative culture, aligned with its growth rate and prepared for what is to come. More efficient meetings without technical interruptions, better internal communication, even in remote locations, increased team productivity by focusing on the essentials, reduced response times to incidents, resource optimization by outsourcing audiovisual management, better experience for users and visitors.

"Thanks to the implemented solution, now our meetings, whether face-to-face or remote, take place with professional quality audio and video. The technical problems that previously affected our communication have been resolved, allowing us to focus on business without interruptions. We thank Ricoh for making this improvement possible." - Cesar De Leon, Investment and Efficiency Project Manager.

Ricoh at a global level is a company committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by solving social problems through business with the sole purpose of achieving economic growth, a better planet. and a better society.

Case Study: Grafica Maguncia

Case Study: Grafica Maguncia

Prepared by Sol Rodriguez, Ricoh Argentina

History and context

Gráfica Maguncia was born in 1983 as a publishing house specialized in logistics and transport economics. Over the years, it evolved into a creative boutique and, in 1996, it became an integral printing company, editing, designing and printing its own products. Among its first milestones was the production of teacher training books for the National Ministry of Education.

Located in Balvanera, a strategic area with high educational density, Maguncia today offers printing solutions for institutes, universities, creative agencies, embassies and leading commercial brands. Over time and with the impulse of the production manager, Pilar Brandi, they have been able to adapt to technological changes to stay at the forefront of the industry, migrating from traditional offset to the digital world.

Business challenge

The relationship with Ricoh began in 2018, during the launch event of the Ricoh Pro C9200 industrial color printer. At the time, in an increasingly competitive environment, Mainz was facing the need to expand its production capacity, improve its lead times and diversify its offering with high-quality technology. They were also looking to partner with a reliable supplier, offering efficient after-sales support, availability of supplies and affordable spare parts.

Ricoh Solution

To accompany the growth of its operation and respond to the needs of its customers, Gráfica Maguncia progressively incorporated different high-volume printing solutions, consolidating a robust and versatile technological infrastructure.

They started with two Ricoh Pro C5100s production printers and then added a Ricoh Pro 8200, a Ricoh Pro 8220, a Ricoh Pro L5160e plotter and finally the Ricoh Pro C5300s, which completed their machine fleet.

"We decided to continue with the 5000 line because it is very versatile and of unquestionable print quality. Being able to work with paper from 60 to 360 grams and synthetic substrates makes it an agile tool for both short and medium runs. It is an economical, reliable and high-performance machine," says Luis Brandi, owner of the printing company.

Results

Thanks to Ricoh solutions, Gráfica Maguncia achieved:

  • Significantly raise the quality of its products
  • Reduce operating times
  • Expand your service offering
  • Optimize your workflow
  • Consolidate as a reliable supplier for demanding customers

Luis Brandi highlights: "Having solid equipment, available spare parts, affordable supplies and an after-sales service that is attentive to the customer's needs are what anyone involved in production values highly."

In addition, Luis told Ricoh that they have their sights set on continuing to innovate: "Mainz plans to incorporate 5th color production equipment, such as the Ricoh Pro C7500, to further expand its offerings to advertising agencies and creative bureaus".

This is another example of how Ricoh LATAM drives digital transformation in the graphic arts sector, accompanying its customers at every stage of growth. Gráfica Maguncia and Ricoh co-create innovative experiences in the workspace, increasing productivity, quality and responsiveness to an increasingly demanding market.

Ricoh Latin America and Grafica Maguncia acted together in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a better future:

Ricoh at a global level is a company committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by solving social problems through business with the sole purpose of achieving economic growth, a better planet. and a better society.

Case Study: AES Servicios America

Case Study: AES Servicios America

Prepared by Sol Rodriguez, Ricoh Argentina

History and context

AES Servicios America is a company that is part of The AES Corporation, a leading company in the transition to renewable energies at a global level. In recent years, the organization went through a growth process that generated new needs in terms of meeting spaces and collaborative technology, presenting a special challenge in terms of the quality of hybrid meetings, which have been consolidated in recent years as a new model of organizational culture.

Business challenge

AES Servicios America's challenge was to adapt its building and technological infrastructure to improve the quality of hybrid meetings and to accompany its organizational growth by prioritizing a better meeting experience for its employees. It was necessary to create a large, modern and flexible space that would allow mass meetings, celebrations and meetings with an equitable experience for all participants.

"We found ourselves with hybrid meetings where the person speaking was not well focused or we did not have good microphones and those who participated remotely could not hear or see well, and that ultimately affected the quality of the meeting. We needed something that would be more enjoyable for everyone and that the experience would be good both for those who were in person and in remote format", summarized Fernanda Ibarra, project leader at AES, emphasizing the importance of simplicity and comfort in the interaction.

Ricoh Solution

At Ricoh, we worked with the AES team to design and implement a comprehensive solution to meet these challenges. "Ricoh advised us not only in terms of the features of the equipment but fundamentally in achieving good experiences. For example, they suggested not only having a screen in front, but designing a space so that, no matter where you are located, you always have a place to refer to in a simple way to follow a presentation."

Through the development of a state-of-the-art auditorium, collaborative technologies adapted to the new ways of working were incorporated:

  • Installation of multiple strategically placed digital Signage displays, based on a heat map, to ensure visibility from any point in the auditorium.
  • Audiovisual solutions with cameras, audio and microphones in ceilings that allow: capturing voices, eliminating the need to share microphones and focus on who is speaking, improving the visual and sound quality of meetings.
  • Audiovisual control room, where an operator manages sound and image in real time to optimize each presentation.
This solution was designed not only to solve technical needs, but also to offer an intuitive, fluid and seamless experience.

Results

The implementation was highly valued by the AES team. The new auditorium became a central space for the organizational culture, allowing for more dynamic, close and participatory meetings.

Among the benefits highlighted by the organization:

  • More effective and fluid hybrid meetings.
  • Greater integration between remote and on-site collaborators.
  • Use of the auditorium for mass events, training and celebrations.
  • High end-user satisfaction thanks to user-friendly, high-performance technology.

"People value good technology, but above all experience. With this, meetings are more dynamic, closer and without so much interference, making everything flow," concluded Fernanda Ibarra.

Ricoh Latin America and AES Servicios America acted together in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a better future:

Ricoh at a global level is a company committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by solving social problems through business with the sole purpose of achieving economic growth, a better planet. and a better society.

Case Study: Grafinorte

Case Study: Grafinorte

Prepared by Renata Do Santos, Ricoh Brasil

Grafinorte, an important printing industry in the Southern Region of Brazil, entrusted Ricoh with the beginning of the modernization of its printing park, concentrated almost entirely on large analog offset machines, whose costs and production time are not suitable for short runs.

History and context

Created 33 years ago, Grafinorte belongs to the Tribuna Group, which also publishes the daily newspaper Tribuna do Norte. The newspaper and the printing company are based in Apucarana, in the north of the State of Paraná. The printing company occupies an area of more than 20,000 m² and provides services to companies throughout Brazil, in the publishing and advertising markets, with the production of catalogs, magazines, inserts, folders, envelopes, calendars, notebooks and brochures. Grafinorte employs 120 people and produces 500 titles per month, which add up to 8 million prints.

Business challenge

Grafinorte faced problems such as not having large digital equipment that would allow faster and better costs in short-run printing, which is now highly demanded, especially in the promotional market. In addition, it faced a lack of specialized labor in the region where it operates.

The existence of almost exclusively analog equipment in the Grafinorte park was an ingredient that needed to be overcome to maintain its competitiveness in the market. In addition, the company had demands for print quality improvement and technological standardization.

Ricoh's work at Grafinorte to propose a project to modernize its printing plant lasted two months and began with an immersion in the company to understand its business. Difficulties were detected in internal processes and the existence of only one digital printer of an entry model was verified, insufficient to meet market demands.

A stage of solution mapping was then initiated, in RGC and color mapping, followed by quality tests and approval of substrates. The conclusion of the negotiations was to demonstrate the advantages of Ricoh solutions compared to other products available on the market.

Ricoh Solution

Grafinorte acquired, in addition to a Ricoh PRO C9500 large digital press, a finishing module with booklet, a print server (Fiery) and a Color Profile Suite equipment with ES-3000. Grafinorte also contracted Ricoh Services for pre and post-press process automation, color management and monitoring (Remote+ARMS), as well as a graphic arts package.

Findings

In addition to opening Grafinorte's doors to new Ricoh solutions for the eventual continuity of the modernization of its printing park, the implemented project produced concrete results:

The following were achieved:

  • Agility in the printing process, with a reduction in production time from two to one day.
  • 50% reduction in labor used.
  • Expansion of the variety of media that can be printed, adding to the two existing stickers, vinyl, cardboard in 350g/m² and newspaper in 45g/m².
  • Time savings in bending, clamping and plate engraving processes.
  • Overall, productivity gains of 40% were achieved

"We had been looking for months for a solution that would reduce costs, processes and bring improvement in print quality. We find all these attributes in the Ricoh PRO C9500. With it, printing, stapling, and folding, all in the same process. Materials that we used to make in two days, today we make in 24 hours. In addition, the other solutions offered by Ricoh have greatly increased our productivity. Thank you, Ricoh, for the partnership" - André Marçal, director of Grafinorte.

Ricoh Latin America and Grafinorte acted together in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a better future:

Ricoh at a global level is a company committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by solving social problems through business with the sole purpose of achieving economic growth, a better planet. and a better society.

Ricoh was also recently included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the fifth consecutive year and recognized with double A score for climate action and water security leadership in CDP A List for the second consecutive year, in addition to its 2020 validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Ricoh promotes sustainability through its Three Ps Balance—Prosperity (economy), People (society), and Planet (environment). To help realize a sustainable society, Ricoh has identified seven material issues in two key areas: “Resolving social issues through business” and “Robust management infrastructure.” It has also set 16 ESG targets linked to these material issues. By aligning ESG and business growth, Ricoh continues to strengthen its sustainability strategy.

Ricoh calls for action for the planet with “Global SDGs Action Month” initiative

Ricoh Leads "Global SDGs Action Month"

Weston, June 16th, 2025 – Ricoh today announced the launch of Ricoh Global SDGs Action Month 2025, dedicating the month of June to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through employee-driven initiatives around the world.

The Ricoh Group places the enhancement of corporate value through resolving social issues at the core of its business strategy. This annual initiative reflects Ricoh's commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices across all regions and operations.

Since 2006, Ricoh has held annual environmental events during Global Eco Action Month, coinciding with World Environment Day in June. In 2019, the program was renamed Ricoh Global SDGs Action, to reflect an expanded focus beyond environmental and decarbonization efforts, addressing a broader range of social issues. 2025 marks the 20th year of this evolving initiative.

This year's theme, “Take action to empower Fulfillment through Work,” encourages all employees, including senior leadership, to reflect on work-related social challenges and take both individual and collective action. This aligns with our mission of understanding and transforming how people work to unleash human potential and creativity for a sustainable future. Ahead of the initiative, Akira Oyama, President and CEO, shared a video message with employees worldwide, expressing his aspirations for the program.

Oyama says: “I ask you to take a moment to imagine the people your work ultimately supports, and to reflect on what you can do to contribute to their Fulfillment through Work. Even small actions matter. When we all act together, those small steps add up to something powerful. Let's come together as One Ricoh to support the transformation of work and empower Fulfillment through Work for our customers.”

"At Ricoh, we believe that true business progress goes hand in hand with sustainable development. SDG Action Month is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and demonstrate, with concrete actions, how technology, innovation and collaborative work can generate a positive impact on our communities and the planet," says Diego Imperio, President and CEO of Ricoh LATAM.

Sustainability is part of Ricoh's DNA and is deeply integrated into its business strategy. Through technological solutions, Ricoh LATAM helps its customers reduce their environmental impact, optimize resources and transform their operations responsibly. We invite all organizations to join us in this commitment by adopting technologies that not only improve productivity, but also actively contribute to a more sustainable future for all.
